After learning about the incredible lengths that Hollywood movies will go nowadays to get shown in China, new Late Show host Stephen Colbert decided to get some of that “sweet and sour renminbi” for himself.
The host talked about the upcoming blockbuster “The Martian,” which includes pro-Chinese space program plot points and therefore will open in China and presumably do insanely well.
China is the world’s second-largest movie market after the U.S. and Hollywood has been known to cut scenes of aliens blowing holes in the Great Wall and add unnecessary scenes of Fan Bingbing in order to appeal to Chinese censors and audiences.
Colbert kicked off his Pander Express by sucking up to Chinese censors by defaming the “villainous Dalai Lama” and then moved on to reaching out directly to Chinese millennials to get them to watch his new edition of The Late Show.
Colbert is already known in China for having his old show’s opening montage blatantly ripped off by some Chinese talk show.
