Chinese power couple Angelababy and Huang Xiaoming promised a lavish, fairytale wedding and damn it they delivered!
Apparently, like half of China’s celebrities were in attendance for Angelababy and Huang’s wedding last night held at the magically Stalinist Shanghai Exhibition Center. Angelababy, a Shanghai-native, dreamed since childhood of getting married in a castle. Guess this was as close as they could get until Shanghai Disneyland opens.
Pictures from the wedding have flooded Chinese social media and it has become the top trending story roughly everywhere. It’s already been dubbed the wedding of the century and we still have 85 more years to go!
While originally the couple planned to invite some 3,000 guests, they appear to have pruned the guest list down to a more reasonable 600. Superstar actress Li “Don’t Call Me Fan” Bingbing was among the bridesmaids and Wang Sicong, son of China’s richest man and giver of Apple Watches to dogs, was one of the groom’s best men.
The 2.5-meter-tall cake took around a month to complete (… yum?).
To decorate the wedding site, more than 200 florists worked together to create the “Princess’s Garden of Eden.”
Huang is most famous for his portrayal of Yang Guo (杨过) in the TV show The Return of the Condor Heroes (神鵰俠侶), and has also starred in films, including Ip Man 2 (葉問2). His wife, Angelababy, also know as Angela Yeung, began her career as a model when she was 14 and has also found success in the film world, recently starring in “Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon (狄仁傑之神都龍王龍鳳鬥)”.
The power couple met through a mutual friend over karaoke in 2009 and have been secretly dating ever since. Their relationship only went public last year when Huang gave Yeung a Lamborghini for her 25th birthday and hid in the driver’s seat with roses.
We wish them all the best!
