Plans for a new Beijing-Kowloon high-speed railway have been basically approved. The route will cover more than 2,400 kilometers in around 8 hours.
The impact assessment for two segments of the track, Shangqiu-Hangzhou and Beijing-Bazhou, have been recently made public. They say that the train will reach a maximum speed of around 350 kilometers per hour.
The planned end date for construction has not yet been announced.
Currently there is only one Beijing-Kowloon through train and it’s not the most convenient mode of transportation. It uses 25T class train carriages and takes approximately 23 hours. Of course, there are also two trains that will take you from Beijing to Shenzhen in 8.5 hours and 10 hours respectively. Tickets for these high-speed trains cost more than 900RMB for a hard seat and nearly 1,500RMB for a soft seat.
Here is a full list of the stations on the line: Beijing, Beijing New Airport, Bazhou, Hengshui, Liaocheng, Shangqiu, Hefei, Hangzhou, Heze, Fuyang, Nanchang, Ji’an, Ganzhou, Heyuan, Huizhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
