There is talk coming out of China of a magical city in the clouds spotted above Jiangxi and Foshan in two separate instances.
Being that this news has been broadcast over the Internet, loads of theories have popped up attempting to explain this phenomenon. Most of them are pretty colorful.
Some believe it to be the work of supernatural forces, while other claim that it is the manifestation of a parallel universe!
But what is perhaps the most conspiratorial of theories is the one claiming that it is a test conducted by NASA for a secret project referred to as ““Project Blue Beam,” which is intended to simulate the second coming of Christ with holograms!
On the other hand, weather experts (always keen on spoiling the fun), believe that the images seen in the sky are actually a special form of mirage also known as a Fata Morgana. According to Wired, for centuries, this mirage “has historically both fascinated and scared the hell out of people.” For this type of mirage to occur, light has to refract down towards the viewer at an unusually sharp angle, tricking the brain into thinking the image is actually higher up than it really is. Wired does a really good job of explaining this phenomena, so check it out here.
In any case, residents of Foshan can add this to their long list of quirky attractions.
