A baby with its umbilical cord still attached was flung out of the window of a hospital in Jiangmen on Sunday, miraculously a passerby managed to save the newborn. The mother had allegedly thrown her child from the women’s restroom on the first floor.
Fortunately the child had landed safely on the canvas awning of a tricycle parked outside of the hospital. A woman surnamed Zeng came upon the crying baby.
“I was so scared that my legs were shaking when I arrived in the hospital,” she said. “But it’s a life and I just couldn’t look the other way.”
The baby boy made it out alive with no life threatening injuries. He currently weighs 2.8kg and is in the ICU.
Police are still searching for the mother after this horrific event, according to the Southern Metropolis News, via SCMP.
“I think the mother had a reason to do this, or that she wasn’t prepared to be a mother, so I don’t blame her,” Zeng said. “But she should know that there are people who can help if she has any difficulties.”
Zeng speaks the truth. Last month, we reported on a boy who celebrated his 5th birthday inside a Kunming hospital’s maternity ward, the only home he has ever known, with his 100 hospital moms.
