Early yesterday morning, in the New Territories of Hong Kong, a black bull was spotted lying dead in the middle of the street after it had been hit by vehicle, passersby watched on in amazement as other cows began to gather around their fallen comrade.
A four-wheel drive vehicle struck the bull while it was crossing a road in Ma On Shan at around 7:35 a.m. yesterday morning, leaving the animal with a broken front right leg and spilling blood. The driver stopped and called police.
Witnesses say that the herd tried to push the bull’s body to the side of the road, Unable to moove it, the cows started to nuzzle against the bull’s body with their faces, ignoring the horns of impatient motorists, reports the Bastille Post.
“They wanted to help but it was no use,” one witness told SCMP. “It’s tragic … They stayed at its side, encouraging it to move.”
Finally, the police arrived to disperse the herd and workers were called in to move the body.
