Well, northern China may be experiencing unusually severe snowfall and freezing temperatures, but at least the PLA is now doing its part to warm everybody up by having soldiers participate in its annual shirtless winter drills.
We were a little worried when the Chinese military published pictures of its troops training in the arctic wilds of northern Heilongjiang earlier this week, and they were wearing snug uniforms and coats. With all of the talk about military reform, had the army lost its way? Gone soft?
Turns out we were wrong to be worried as these pictures show soldiers diving, standing and dancing a jig while shirtless in the snow. It’s only a matter of time before they’ll have to shove their faces into basins filled with snow.
However, the other half of the photoseries was completely shirt-on, featuring male and female soldiers running around a track and having their tonsils checked in full gear out in the heavy snow. Meh.
