A woman recently spent a few million yuan on 13.35 kg of commemorative gold bars in northeast China’s Jilin province. The gold bars were issued by China Gold Coin Corporation in honor of the forthcoming Year of the Monkey. They were priced at 267 yuan ($42) per gram .
According to People’s Daily, the woman has been buying gold bars for the past seven years, purchasing 2.59 million yuan worth of gold in just the previous year alone, but a staff member says that this was her biggest investment yet. She is said to have arrived in a sedan with two gentleman, paying for the bars with her debit card.
The woman’s identity is hidden for obvious reasons. At least she can know her fortune will last forever, unlike one Jiangsu woman who discovered that her entire life savings of 100,000 yuan had turned to mush beneath her floorboards earlier this year. Well, it will be safe as long as stays sober and keeps out of politics.
