22 students from a university in Wuhan took to their city’s subway and turned a subway carriage into their own private catwalk, much to the delight of its occupants.
According to NetEase, the impromptu fashion show took place yesterday on line 2 of the Wuhan metro, with locals reportedly flocking around the girls and whipping out their smartphones to take pictures of the scene.
The girls showed off their qipao and a traditional evening dress. The qipao, or cheongsam, came into fashion in Shanghai during the 1920s and was worn mostly by socialites and those in the upper classes.
Last September, around a hundred women clad in qipao took part in a flash mob at Times Square in New York, with crowds of tourists from all around the world gathering to admire the beauty of China’s signature dresses.
