15 years after the original film seized the world’s attention, the sequel to “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” has come armed with show-off landscapes and a dramatic soundtrack in a controversial trailer.
In “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny,” Yu Shy Lien, portrayed again by Michelle Yeoh, promises to halt her hiatus from combat in order to protect the sword of Green Destiny.
The film is being released on Netflix and in IMAX theatres simultaneously on February 8th next year.
Although director Ang Lee and actor Chow Yun-fat haven’t returned, fans will probably take solace in the credits of new director Yuen Woo-ping who previously worked as a choreographer on the original movie, as well as on the likes of “The Matrix.”
The first film earned an incredible $213.5 million when it was released back in 2000. Considering the shameful current China box office record-holder, we wish this next iteration the best of luck.
