Usurping Seoul from the top spot, Shanghai was announced as this year’s winner from the Asia-Pacific region in ECA International’s Cost of Living survey —again.
Dominating the top 20 with 11 total cities, China certifiably came out on top, with Shanghai moving from last year’s third place to the number one slot and dethroning the now fourth-ranking Seoul.
Meanwhile, Beijing nabbed second place and Hong Kong third, solidifying the top three.
ECA’s Asia regional director Lee Quane put it down to the RMB this year actually beating most currencies, despite a minor decrease against the dollar. Here’s the full top 20, which Donald Trump is no doubt stewing over at this very moment.
