A girl from Henan who was taken from her parents at the age of two has been reunited with her parents 17 years after she first went missing.
According to NetEase , Tang Shuzhuo was separated from her parents in October of 1998. Her biological father, Tang Yunfu, said that he lost his daughter in a crowd outside the family grocery store in Nanyang city.
For the next 17 years, the family continued their search, closing the grocery store and visiting bus and train stations in the hope that they would somehow find their daughter. In 2011, the couple visited a police station and submitted a DNA profile.
Tang Shuzhuo, who grew up using the surname Chen, got in touch with an organization which aims to return missing children to their biological parents. With their help, Chen was able to upload a profile with her personal details to an online platform and submitted her DNA to a local police station.
After discovering a DNA match, authorities were able to reunite Chen with her biological parents. She has yet to notify her foster parents as to the revelation, but insists that in spite of everything they have been wonderful parents, treating her as if she were their own.
While unsure whether to move back to Henan or stay with her adopted parents in Dongguan, Chen has agreed to visit her parents during the Spring Festival.
