Yesterday, China enjoyed the final day of a mini national holiday marking the New Year… well, enjoy might not be exactly the right word as large chunks of the scenic Middle Kingdom were well-concealed behind a depressing layer of smog that will ruin any vacay.

Of course, even if you did choose to go to a destination with more palatable air, you weren’t exactly guaranteed more space to breathe.
