In the latest installment in China’s ongoing series of self-indulgent Romeos, a man from Sichuan province rented the advertising boards of all of Yibin city’s downtown cabs in order to broadcast a message of apology to his wife.
The man, calling himself “A. Qiang,” rented the LED boards of a total of 1,407 cabs from Saturday to Monday, according to Sina.
“I’m sorry darling. Please forgive me,” read the obviously heartfelt message on every single one of them.
Of course, the photos went viral online, with netizens speculating about what exactly went down to drive the man to such extreme methods of apology, and others questioning if it was all just really a publicity stunt.
According to the advertisement company, the cost to rent all the cab boards is a pretty reasonable 10,000 yuan per day, which would make that an apology worth 30,000 yuan.
Netizens are free to debate whether that’s less or more effort than that time a guy bought four pages of the Beijing Youth Daily to beg for his girlfriend’s forgiveness in print.
Remember, if you screwed up and are low on cash, there’s always the chalk and stone steps method of begging for her forgiveness.
