A sleepy community in Guangdong was awakened yesterday morning by the sights and sounds of an extravagant wedding ceremony that seemed straight out of a dynasty drama. Much to locals’ surprise, it actually turned out to be the real thing.
Residents reported that first a convoy of luxury cars pulled up and let out a young gentleman all suited up like an imperial prince. He led along a posse of dozens dressed in similar dynastic garb, including a whole contingent of “bodyguards,” toward the home of his beloved.
“At first, I thought that somebody must be shooting a movie,” one nearby resident said. “It wasn’t until I asked that I discovered it was an actual wedding.”
Pictures of the festivities leaked online, showing the blinged-out bride weighted down in an insane amount of gold trinkets. Rumor has it that the tuhao groom comes from Macao and he brought wedding gifts totaling some 2.8 million yuan.
