A little girl dressed as Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Little Match Girl” drew the attention of passersby near The Bund earlier this week by handing out free matches for a good cause.
The charity event was created by Love Wardrobe, a non-profit organization that aims to raise awareness for poor children who suffer through winters in cold, mountainous regions of China.
Reporters discovered that the matches were normal except for the packaging, with the front side reading:
“There are still many children living in mountainous areas living like ‘The Little Match Girl’ suffering in the cold, and they need your warmth.”
Meanwhile, on the reverse side, there was a QR code that allowed users to give donations so they can send away a little “warmth” to kids in need.
