Just in time for the Spring Festival holiday, a severe cold front is expected to make itself felt throughout most of southern China during the wintry week ahead.
Seasonal lows are expected all throughout the region with the temperature in Shanghai perhaps plummeting to just minus 5 degrees on Monday. According to the National Meterological Center, we can also expect: blizzards in Zhejiang, snow in Jiangxi, sleet in Guizhou and even possibly frost and ice in Hong Kong’s New Territories.
Acting as an omen for things to come, very light snow even started to fall in Taipei recently. Though meteorologists didn’t confirm the flurries as anything, it was still enough to freak people out online:

Of course, northern China has already been experiencing this kind of crazy coldness since Sunday, with temperatures hitting a year-low of minus 8 degrees in Beijing, while portions of Heilongjiang were treated to temperatures so cold, they could freeze an egg.
Check out what kind of fun we have to look forward to:
If you are looking to get away before the cold hits, we happen to know a lovely little place down south.
