While China’s richest man, might be able to afford the high life, even he cannot escape the alluring pastime all Chinese people know and love — karaoke.
As it turns out, karaoke isn’t limited to weddings, parties and drunken celebrations at your local KTV, but also works well at annual company meetings, providing you’re the boss of course.
Wang Jianlin, chairman of Dalian Wanda Group, spent his weekend at a Chinese New Year Gala entertaining his employees by singing “Fake Monk,” by Chinese rock legend Cui Jian.
Surrounded by twirling female dancers, Wang was even handed some flowers by a sparkly woman who quickly posed with him on stage and then left for him to continue his performance.
A spokesman for Wang told China Real Time that Wang, enjoys karaoke as a hobby and there was no other meaning behind his performance.
While it may seem strange for a former military man to have such hobbies, Wang’s industry friends say he’s no stranger to karaoke and loves to show off his talent.
Admittedly, Mr Wang’s singing talent isn’t half bad, though it’s probably more of an acquired taste which many of his employees have no doubt gained.
