Just another day on the metro in China as one woman publicly slaughtered a duck at a Chengdu Metro station on Tuesday as a rather vivid protest for the subway’s policy against live animals on trains.
After being stopped at a security checkpoint due to the suspicious duck in her handbag, the twenty-something woman apparently concluded that the best course of action was to simply slay the poor creature right then and there.
Borrowing a knife (which apparently are allowed on board) from a fellow passenger, the incensed woman prepared the scene by covering the floor with some handy newspaper. She then slit the duck’s throat, to the horror and bafflement of passersby.
Station officials also frowned on the act and noted that staff should probably have stopped the woman, one summarizing the matter thusly: “Butchering a duck in a public area is definitely inappropriate.”
