A replica of the Tiananmen gatehouse which stands at the entrance to the Forbidden City has been constructed at a water park in Nanchang, Jiangxi province.
According to NetEase, the structure is a near exact copy of the Beijing landmark, complete with revolutionary slogans and Mao Zedong portrait.
The structure is 20 meters high and 50 meters in length. It was lit up for the first time on Tuesday as engineers carried out testing ahead of a light show which will take place over Spring Festival.
Copies of famous world landmarks can be found throughout China, but this is one of the few instances where they’ve decided to rip off one of their own buildings.
Earlier this week we were left scratching our heads at the owner of a Shanzhai Pentagon in Shanghai which hopes to drum up business once the nearby Disneyland opens for business.
