According to data released by Statista, China can take credit for 3 of the top 10 biggest employers in the world, competing alongside the likes of such world powers as Walmart and McDonald’s.
No big surprise, but check out this chart, it’s pretty interesting:
Coming runner-up to the US military, China’s top representative is the People’s Liberation Army, which encompasses all of the country’s armed forces for a total of 2.3 million workers, though they are looking to downsize by 300,000 soon, which would drop them at least under Walmart.
China then dominated the latter half of the top 10 with showings from its dominant oil and electricity services.
Meanwhile, Taipei-based Foxconn, which operates numerous facilities in the mainland squeezes in at number 10.
As you would expect, the top 10 was pretty much dominated by China and the US, as well as India, the world’s other most populous country.
