City dwellers from Liaocheng city have spent the last few days gawking at a series of new apartments which appear to have a precarious looking bridge connecting the two sides of the building, 10 stories up.
According to NetEase, the building is divided up into two halves, with each having its own staircase inaccessible to the other side. At least that was until the genius developers installed the bridge connecting the upper reaches of the building.
While local residents were left scratching their heads over why the bridge was put in, netizens commenting on the article suggested that it could be required due to fire regulations, claiming that it would allow residents from one side of the building to flee to the other if their staircase was blocked.
If the bridge was indeed built for safety purposes, you’d think that the developer could at least have included a guardrail to make the crossing between the two sides of the building a bit safer.
