While tourists across China are soaking up the rays in Sanya and facing their fears in Hunan, a layer of smog has settled over Beijing, making things even worse for the thousands of CNY visitors to the Great Wall.
Heavy smog hit Beijing yesterday with PM 2.5 levels around 250, suffocating travelers trying to scale the Great Wall amid already claustrophobic Spring Festival crowds. Judging by the visibility, it looks like they were lucky just to find the wall.
Elsewhere, in Tiananmen Square, the air quality is giving visitors a taste of what Beijing typically looks like when it isn’t turned into a temporary ghost town.
