Not too long after its first case, China has confirmed that a second person on the mainland has been diagnosed with the Zika virus.
China’s Center for Disease Control disclosed on Sunday that the second patient was detected at the airport in Guangzhou, reports CCTV. Like the first affected, the patient had returned to the mainland from Venezuela, where they had previously worked for 3 years.
The announcement has coincided with the release of the first patient from the hospital in Ganxian city, said Jiangxi’s health and family planning commission on Sunday.
After flying back earlier this month from a trip to Venezuela, the man, 34, was quarantined on February 6. He’s since made a full recovery, with serum, urine, and saliva tests showing negative for the virus. His recovery bodes well for future inflicted patients.
