Yesterday, four men were detained at the Beijing Capital International Airport for setting off a bundle of fireworks inside one of the terminals.
The unnamed suspects were quickly spotted by police on duty inside Terminal 2 of the airport and were taken away for questioning immediately, reports Beijing Morning Post.
So far, no information has been released as to why they decided to do such a thing. Were they trying to earn some good fortune for a long flight ahead or welcoming a friend back in style? Your guess is as good as ours. Though the timing is a bit interesting…
As they could not have picked a worse time to do it, with the entire capital on high-alert as officials gather for the annual Lianghui, or “Two Sessions,” to decide on (or rubber stamp) policies for China’s future.
