Already banned in both the Forbidden City and Hong Kong Disneyland, selfie sticks are also apparently no longer welcome inside the Great Hall of the People.
Earlier today, journalists covering the annual Lianghui, or “Two Sessions,” a set of dual meetings of the CPPCC and NPC that mark the most important time of the year on China’s political calendar, were informed of this via garbled text message:

This marks a drastic shift from last year’s Lianghui, which China Daily dubbed “Season of selfie at two sessions,” with everyone from journalists to officials to Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun getting into the act.
Already, big changes are afoot.
