In a romantic effort to finally find the true love of their life, 280 women showed up to a competition in Chengdu on Saturday, hoping to earn one of 12 tickets to Dubai to meet their Prince Charming.
According to the event organizer Meimeng, a Chinese dating company, the competition is aimed at selecting qualified single women to be matched with wealthy bachelors in Dubai worth at least 50 million yuan.
These 280 ladies had already been whittled down from over 2,000 single women who signed up for the contest online. The candidates ranged in age from 19 to 48, and included primary school teachers, yoga coaches, postgrad students and beauty pageant champions.
The ladies had to go through three rounds of rigorous testing that accessed their physical appearance, professional qualifications and past relationships.
Their WeChat pages were also put up to scrutiny and apparently those who liked to flaunt their wealth were immediately ruled out. Can’t have none of that.
The lucky 12 picked will travel together to Dubai in June and then live happily ever after — we can only assume.
