The hot dish this week at cafeterias around China? Celery with strawberries, a forgotten Chinese classic.
NetEase reports that cooks at a Hubei university cafeteria thought that the students were starting to find the food there a little dull, so they decided to spice things up a bit… with strawberries.
Apparently, it worked. The dish sold out in under 10 minutes.
However, netizens have authored mixed reviews on this new controversial culinary creation:
One web user @lavenren writes, “Strawberries are so expensive these days. The cafeteria must really love the students.”
“The most creative cooks are all in universities in our country,” says @Manredaxigua.
“When I heard the name of this dish, I instantly lost my appetite for the day,” remarks @chuanyuexiongqun
“Coming soon: Scrambled eggs with strawberries,” mocked netizen @Lianrumin.
Personally, we don’t know how this could be any worse than regular food at Chinese cafeteria. Cook it up for yourself tonight and see how it goes.
