On Tuesday morning, an 80-year-old elderly woman in Sichuan woke up early to line up to buy tickets to the big game for her son, when the booth opened kind-hearted fans let her skip all the way to the front.
This year’s CBA Finals between the Sichuan Blue Whales and the Liaoning Leopards is set to start on Friday. Tickets went on sale at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning, but nearly a thousand Sichuan fans spent the night lined up outside the ticket office to get their hands on one.
The granny, surnamed Meng, arrived at 4:30 a.m., with a stool to sit on, to purchase a ticket for her son, who was too busy to come himself because of work, Tencent reports.
After hearing her story, one female fan talked to police, hoping they could hook the elderly woman up.
The police quickly consented and escorted the woman to the head of the line, in front of 100 other fans, who didn’t complain a bit.
“She had been waiting for six hours, I was worrying that she wouldn’t be able to hang in there. We basketball fans also need to show our care and love for the elderly,” the female fan told reporters.
Meng thanked the fans, took her ticket and walked back home.
