Over the past 13 years, a man and his daughter in Hebei province have brought more than 300 stray dogs into their home and given them a better life.
The daughter, A Zi, told reporters that they tried to adopt animals that were sick, disabled, abused or injured. She said they had even saved some dogs from the slaughterhouse.
As they adopted more and more animals, A Zi and her father decided that they needed to rent a place to give their “kids” some more space. They have named this shelter the “A Zi Rescue Center.”
While they have been met with many difficulties over the years, they both say that they have never thought about quitting and plan to keep on saving more animals far into the future.
It isn’t clear how much A Zi and her dad are paying to support all these animals, but as we’ve learned, the cost can really put some warmhearted people in quite the bind.
Last year, one Sichuan couple was found peddling items on the streets to pay for the costs of raising nearly 60 stray cats and dogs that they had adopted in the past 10 years, spending hundreds of thousands of yuan in the process.
In another case last November, a former Changchun millionaire went broke founding an animal rescue center to save local strays from the slaughterhouse.
Dogs help humans. Humans help dogs.
