A robber thought he had gotten away clean after stealing a woman’s gold necklace on the street; however, he wasn’t counting on the presence of a nearby kung fu master, cleverly disguised as a simple delivery man.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon on the streets of Guangzhou. 39-year-old Chen Zijing chased down two robbers, armed with knives, who had stolen a little old lady’s jewelry right off her neck, New Express Daily reports.
The victim’s son, Xiao Li, told reporters that when he was taking his mom home on his motorcycle, he noticed that two young men were aggressively following behind them on their own motorcycle.
When they got close enough, the man on the back stretched out his hand and grabbed the old woman’s necklace from behind. This caused Xiao Li to fall off his motorcycle and get dragged along for two to three meters. His neck and legs were injured in the fall.
Xiao Li’s mother began to shout for help and Chen immediately tried to block the two men from escaping. Apparently, the two robbers weren’t all that cool under pressure, running their motorcycle straight into the side of a bus and taking a spill.
The two then picked themselves up and ran off in different directions. One charged Chen with a knife, but Chen simply grabbed the man by the neck and threw him to the ground, using his kung fu skills.
Chen sat on the dazed robber and pulled down his pants to ensure he wouldn’t be able to escape, just like his master had taught him. Police soon arrived to take the man into custody, they also caught the other robber a short ways away.
Speaking to reporters, Chen said that he didn’t feel scared when confronting the criminals. He had grown up in a village and had been studying kung fu since he was a boy.
