The moment you have all been waiting for has finally arrived! Sigh, no not that one. No, not that one either. Yes, that’s right, Shanghai just opened a Hello Kitty-themed restaurant!
The two-story Hello Kitty Bistro is located inside a mall on Nanjing Road off Henan Road. It is the mainland’s first official Hello Kitty restaurant authorized by the Tokyo-based Sanrio company, China Daily reports.
On the first floor, customers can shop for all sorts of Hello Kitty crap, while looking at various cutouts of the internationally famous cartoon character that employees really ought to keep an eye on:
Ascend to the second floor to dine on basic western-style food, seasoned with a strong kick of Hello Kitty branding.
Meanwhile, Hello Kitty champagne is on offer, if not Hello Kitty beer.
Hong Kong actually already has a Hello Kitty dim sum joint, serving “Hello shrimp dumplings” and the like. However, if you are looking for a more inexpensive alternative, just take the train to Hangzhou and pop by the Zhejiang Gongshang University cafeteria, which was recently given a Hello Kitty revamp, though we’re not totally sure if it was Sanrio-authorized or not.
In case you are unaware, Hello Kitty is sort of a big deal in China. The thing even has its own delightfully ludicrous theme park in Zhejiang.
