A particularly messed up story out of Hubei where a woman gave birth to her son/brother-in-law after being raped by the father of her infertile husband. Yikes.
Relaying a report from Hubei Television, SCMP says that the young woman’s baby-crazy mother-in-law began forcing her to have sex with male strangers after it was discovered that the woman’s husband was actually impotent.
To escape the brutal treatment of her husband’s family, the woman eventually fled south, all the way to Guangdong. However, her father-in-law, who had supposedly disagreed with his wife’s insane methods of attaining a grandchild, went to find her. In an effort to bring her home, the man reassured her she would no longer be forced to have sex with strangers.
Unfortunately, the man kept his promise by raping her at a hostel, leading to her undesirable pregnancy.
Her father-in-law, the accused rapist, counters that she had seduced him in the hopes of bringing a grandson to the family. He also said that their sexual relationship had lasted several years.
The disturbing family currently seeks to settle the dispute in court. Last year, a man in Hong Kong was imprisoned for raping his teenage daughter though the sentence was surprisingly lenient. A decision to reclassify sex with underage prostitutes as rape in China was put up for discussion last August.
Chinese parents often urge their children to get married early, worrying that if they wait to long there will be no one left, and thus no grandchildren for them to coddle. A recent inspiring skin-care ad shared the stories of China’s annoyed “leftover women,” and allowed them to talk openly to their nagging parents.
In China, children are always a prized commodity, last month one pair of parents sold their 18-day-old daughter for an iPhone and motorbike.
