While we are over here eagerly anticipating the opening of Shanghai Disneyland, residents of Shaoxing city in Zhejiang province are doing the very same thing for their own incredible-looking amusement part.
Last week, photos hit the Chinese internet of the apparently named “Oriental Neverland” (东方山水乐园) that is nearing completion outside Shaoxing. We have to say while Disneyland’s castle is cool and all, these UFO-shaped buildings are just plain awesome — though it’s probably lucky they got the plans in before China banned “weird architecture.”
The park cost 8 billion yuan to build and opens on May 1st. Road trip, anybody?
If you thought the outside was incredible, you were right, it is. But, the inside looks pretty neato as well. There’s a jungle, a beach, a cave and even a merry-go-round:
Honestly, these images are more impressive than anything we’ve seen from Shanghai Disneyland so far. Step it up, Mouse!
