With less than a week to go until its grand opening, people are still continuing to complain about Shanghai Disneyland, particularly the outrageous food prices.
It turns out that inside the park a single Mickey-head baozi costs 35 yuan, meanwhile a bottle of water will cost you 10 yuan. Visitors are complaining that these prices are even higher than in Tokyo Disneyland. Meanwhile, netizens online are mocking those that for some reason expected to find an affordable meal near the castle.
“What did you expect? Of course it’s going to be expensive,” one netizen commented.
“This is nothing. At Hong Kong Disneyland a quick meal cost me $299 HKD,” wrote another.
“This is just to dissuade the lowest rung of society from visiting and ruining your experience,” commented another.
“There’s nothing saying you have to go, if you think it’s too expensive just stay home,” another Weibo user advised.
Here’s the menu at Merlin’s. So you know what to expect.
Full disclosure: Shanghaiist paid 70 RMB for two of these buns… and they were aaaaaaaaamazing!
Probably not to Chinese President and man of the people Xi Jinping’s tastes though.
