“The Happiest Place On Earth” will finally have its long-awaited opening ceremony on June 16, filling our fair city of Shanghai with even more magic and wonder.
According to Shanghai Daily, local and international media, as well as special guests, will be invited to take part in the celebration.
An two-hour opening celebration event will be broadcast at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday on Dragon TV and will feature special appearances from Chinese celebrities Sun Li, Lang Lang and Yao Ming.
But it’s not until the day after that members of the general public will be admitted between 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on June 16. Disney have told those interesting in visiting to make sure they have bought a ticket in advance, because none will be sold at the park that day.
Police in Pudong are advising visitors to take the metro when travelling to and from the resort, which is only a five minute walk from the Disney Resort station.
The recommendation comes after a six-week-long trial opening which revealed a few kinks that needed ironing out. After a few displays of unruly behavior, the Shanghai government issued a handy etiquette guide which warned visitors against littering, harming plants and trees, cutting in line and lying down in the grass.
More recently there have been rumblings about the expensive catering at the park, with visitors outraged at being made to pay 35 yuan for a pork bun. But Shanghaiist is happy to confirm that they taste aaaaaaaaamazing!
