A case involving possibly the youngest runaway kids in China has gone viral on Chinese social media.
A 2-year-old girl from Jiande City in Zhejiang province was a brave enough big sister recently to take her two 1-year-old twin siblings in diapers out to explore the great big world.
Believe it or not, these three kiddos managed to escape for over an hour, making their way downstairs from the 6th floor, through a security door and finally out onto the street, NetEase reports. Fortunately, they didn’t quite make it all the way to IKEA.

The owner of a neighborhood grocery store spotted the three toddlers on the sidewalk and said they were waddling around just like adorable little penguins. He gave each of them a lollipop when they dropped by his store.

A police officer surnamed Chen put down his soybean milk and arrived on the scene. By that time, the adorable kids had attracted quite the crowd of local residents, with some even saying that they wanted to adopt them and take them home.

Instead, Officer Chen, the father of a 2-year-old himself, took them back to his office. He set up an emergency response team, dividing policemen into three teams: one team would try to contact the parents, another team would play with the kids and a third team would go out and buy some milk and clothes for them. Specifically, the 2-year-old girl who walked out into the street butt-naked.

It turns out that the children’s careless young mom had been sleeping while her three kids staged their escape. Once she woke up and realized they were gone, she rushed to the police station. The mom told Officer Chen that her husband had left for work in a hurry and forgot to lock the door. She didn’t notice until she woke up around 8 a.m. and realized her lovely kids had disappeared. Somehow, they managed to avoid getting stuck in something.
Shew, a happy ending after all. But these poor kids, we imagine these pictures will be brought out at every family get-together for the rest of eternity.
