At least 35 people have been killed and a further 11 injures after a bus crashed into a highway barrier and went up in flames.
According to NetEase, the bus was travelling along a highway in Yizhang county, Hunan province this morning when the crash took place.
Recent reports from Xinhua state that two children were among those killed. Four of the 11 who were taken to hospital for treatment were seriously injured. The driver of the bus has been detained.
Local officials are said to believe that the fire had been caused by an oil leak which developed after the collision with the highway guard rail. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
China has witnessed several bus fires over the past few years which have claimed multiple lives. In 2014 a bus fire in Guizhou which killed 5 and injured 35.
