A boy has fallen to his death after his classmates dared him to cross the guard railings and climb along the outside of the apartment building he lived in.
According to NetEase, the incident took place on July 2 at Nan’anqu district in Chongqing. The boy, surnamed Wu, fell 24 floors to the ground below and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 10-year-old Wu is said to have been unattended at the time, with the boy’s parents away from the building and the ayi and his older sister having their afternoon nap.
Reports indicate that the boy was dared by his classmates to get from the living room of his 24th floor apartment to the bedroom by climbing alongside the outside of the building. During the attempt, Wu is thought to have lost his footing and fallen to his death.
Police have launched an investigation into Wu’s death. It is not known whether or not the boy’s relatives will be held responsible for leaving him unattended.
