Contemporary house meets R&B, soul, boogie, and disco with this set by San Francisco’s PillowTalk, an act that made it to #11 on Resident Advisor’s list of live acts last year. This Friday they take over Elevator to deliver a killer DJ set.

The Summer of Mandolin @ The Wooden Box
Tom Pang Newgrass Band delivers heartfelt bluegrass music to JZ Spring. Their lineup of instruments and singers will present authentic American folk music to Shanghai audiences. The complex interplay of the fiddle and guitar, ringing sound of the banjo, blazing mandolin runs, and the high lonesome vocal harmonies recalls emotions from small country towns half a world away. Group Show: ‘The Uncertain, or the Shelved’ @ Shanghart Gallery
Group exhibition featuring big, big names in contemporary Chinese art, including Birdhead, Ding Yi, Geng Jianyi, Xu Zhen, Pu Jie, Zhang Ding and more. Works on display span paintings, installations, sculptures, manuscripts, multimedia and more. Differentiating the show from the expected is that all of these works and ideas are unfinished: after their creators’ initial burst of inspiration, the pieces were temporarily or permanently shelved.
