At long last! Those brave enough will finally get the chance to walk across the world’s longest and highest glass-bottomed bridge when it opens in Zhangjiajie on Saturday.
The 430-meter-long bridge spans Zhangjiajie’s Grand Canyon, hanging 300 meters above the canyon floor. It was supposed to be open last October, and then “early this year,” but was only “completed” in May.
So, what have they been doing for the past few months? Well, publicly stress-testing the bridge with SUVs and sledgehammers to assure nervous visitors that it is safe enough to walk on.
Hopefully, it was worth the wait.
A maximum of 8,000 visitors will be allowed to cross the bridge each day, if you want to be one of those brave souls, you have to book at least a day in advance. Dunno what the deal is with vehicles though.
