In a country where there are few laws protecting animal rights, dog abusers seem to think that they can get away with anything. Earlier this month, a video of a man in Shandong province dragging his dog to death on the road went viral, as well as pictures of a sadistic guy torturing upwards of 50 dogs. Now, animal protection volunteers have decided to hand out some vigilante justice to a man who live-streamed himself raping his dog and even allegedly pimped out the poor creature.
A QQ group where people share videos and “how to tips” for torturing dogs recently came to the attention of animal volunteers, Sina reports… Damn, there really are some weird QQ groups floating around on the internet.
One man filmed himself raping his female dog and attempted to sell the footage for profit online. Furthermore, he allegedly offered fellow monsters to come on over and beat up his dog or rape it for a fee. Volunteers in the area came in contact with the man and set up a meeting. He unknowingly agreed to come.
The video of the volunteers beating the man up, stripping him naked and dragging him out of his own home has gone viral. This has garnered a mixed reaction from netizens, but the animal volunteers also defended their action by stating that they tried reporting the man to the police, but the lack of any legal foundation resulted in inaction.
Police officers in the area sent out a Weibo post, letting the public know that not only has the man been taken into custody, but also the volunteers who beat him up. The abused dog was taken to a vet and is being treated. Initial investigations show that the man is from out of town.
Sina conducted a poll on Weibo — 45% believe that the man deserved to be publicly humiliated while only 19% believe that violence should not have been used.
Either way, looks like it’s time for China to introduce some real laws on animal abuse.
