Police recently apprehended a group of six wealthy Chinese women who were caught holding shoplifting competitions for the thrill of it.
According to Chutian Metropolis Daily, the shoplifting gang were arrested in Yingcheng city, Hubei province after they were found to have stolen more than 20,000 yuan ($3,000) in cosmetic products.
The group, which included a 15-year-old girl, met at a mahjong parlor owned by one of the women where they would regularly play cards. Once they parlor closed, the women remained in contact and began to plan their shoplifting activities.
Rather naively, the women raided the same two cosmetic shops three times throughout the months of June and July. CCTV recordings showed how some members of the group would pace around the store to distract staff while the others stole.
All members of the group are reportedly to be exceedingly wealthy, with the shoplifting competition serving as a mere thrill seeking activity.
Five members of the group are in police custody, with the parents of the 15-year-old girl told to instill some discipline in their daughter.
