Rudimental @ MAO Livehouse
The world’s favorite festival headliners and live drum and bass band quartet Rudimental is in town at MAO Livehouse tonight. With a passion to bring soul back into electronic music, you’ll be able to experience first hand their diverse musicality and songwriting on stage tonight. Headlining for the MTA Festival in Beijing, the show starts at 9pm and tickets are ¥260 at the door.

Shilin night market @ Jinjiang amusement park
Taipei’s largest night market – Shilin Night Market is now in Shanghai and is set up beside the Jinjiang Amusement park. This year, over 40 stalls are flown over from Taiwan and they’re selling all kinds of Taiwanese street food like fried chicken fillets, shaved ice and oyster omelettes priced between ¥10-25. This night market is ongoing until the end of October.

Street culture @ Kerry Parkside
KP Street brings street culture to Shanghai with graffiti art shows, pop ups selling urban-wear, live DJs, street basketball, skate-boarding competition and more. Ongoing until the 15th of September, bring your friends and head on over if you’re in the Pudong New District area.

Dennis Rodman screening @ The Apartment
Former NBA legend Dennis Rodman’s visits to North Korea a few years ago made news around the world and remain one of the most memorably unexpected and unlikely events in recent memory. He was tailed by a British film crew who produced a fascinating documentary about his last few adventures there with Kim Jong Un. Watch the Shanghai premiere at The Apartment and you’ll get to meet Koryo Tours’ Simon Cockerell who helped in film production.

Photography @ Craft
Hop on over to Craft today for a free portrait photo session by renowned Shanghai based photographer – Marcin Gnaś. The portraits taken will be exhibited and auctioned in Craft after a month long sessions and all of the proceeds will be donated to the ”Guangxi Dog Foundation” – a non-profit organisation that rescues dogs saved from the annual Yulin dog meat festival.

Photography exhibit @ SCôP
Today kicks off the first day the exhibit “Nature: A Subjective Place” at SCôP, the Shanghai Centre of Photography. Located in West Bund, SCôP aims to be the leading museum-quality venue dedicated to the wonders of photography in Shanghai. With a mission to inspire the local community with the dynamism of Chinese photography, this new exhibit is ongoing until the end of October. It presents over 70 extraordinary photographic collections created using a diverse range of styles, techniques and approaches.

Local Impression @ Noeli Gallery

Art In The City turns 3 years old and upgrades its festival formula to highlight even more new art from China, more projects and more venues. Cowspiracy screening @ Haworth Furniture
Green Initiatives’ 66th film screening, Cowspiracy: The Sustainability Secret is a groundbreaking environmental documentary that uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today – and investigates why the world’s leading environmental organizations are too afraid to talk about it. This shocking yet humorous documentary reveals the absolutely devastating environmental impact large-scale factory farming has on our planet, and offers a path to global sustainability for a growing population.The film comes with Chinese subtitles and light snacks and refreshments will be provided to all attendees. Donghi Music Festival @ Zhoushan Islands
The Donghai (East Sea) Music Festival – or Donghi as they’re calling it – returns for another year, with 80 rock, folk and electronic artists lined up, performing over four stages on a beach at Zhujiajian on the Zhoushan Islands. Names on the bill include Xiao He, Streets Kill Strange Animals, Pu Shu, Escape Plan (Perdel), Muma and One-Fang plus Shanghai-based DJs Howell, Faded Ghost and MIsloop. This is a three day festival so music fans, make sure you don’t miss this one.

Kenny G @ The Shanghai Oriental Art Centre
American saxophonist, Kenny G, is the biggest-selling instrumental musician of the modern era and one of the best-selling artists of all time, with global sales totalling more than 75 million records. Vertical fun run fundraiser @ Jing An Shangri-La
Jing An Shangri-La, West Shanghai, is hosting its second annual Climb for Hope event to promote healthy living and raise funding for Shanghai Children’s Medical Centre. You’ll be climbing 1,625 steps over 60 floors to reach the highest point of the Jing An Shangri-La hotel building.
