A university student told his crush that he loved her the only way he knew how — with 999 pomelos. Unfortunately, he got rejected. Should have gone for 1,000.
The student from Guangzhou surprised his beloved at a crowded shopping center with hundreds of pomelos — her favorite fruit — arranged into the shape of a heart, along with a moving love song that he penned himself, Apple Daily reports.
“I have liked you since the first day that we met, and now I want everyone to know that I like you. Will you be my girlfriend?” he asked, finally pushing out the feelings that he had been holding inside for the past year.
And she said that she’d rather that they just stay friends. Ouch.
With the girl’s permission, bystanders then helped themselves to all the pomelos.
Of course, this poor guy made the critical mistake of trying to win a girl’s love with fruit. Last year, one 24-year-old dude proposed to his girlfriend with lychees — and got shot down. Girls don’t like fruits, creepy Rubik’s cube portraits, boats or small engagement rings.
They like meat.
Alternatively, you can always wait for her to propose to you.
