Three workers are missing and five more injured after a bridge in Jiangxi province suddenly collapsed on Sunday morning while workers were attempting to take it apart.
According to Xinhua, the incident occurred at 9:17 a.m. over the Ganjiang River. When the 828-meter-long bridge collapsed, three of the eight workers fell into the river and have not been found.
“I was driving an excavator when the floor of the bridge suddenly collapsed. I lost consciousness after the fall,” one of the injured workers told reporters. The other two remain in critical condition with broken bones.

To try and find the three lost workers, over 400 police and rescue workers have been looking day and night. So far without any success.
The bridge had been closed since late 2012 and a new bridge had been built alongside it. Last month, workers started dismantling the bridge.
