One Chinese couple tried out an interesting solution for when you are late for your flight, simply stand under the plane.
Last Wednesday morning, an Air China flight preparing to take off from Beijing to Shanghai was delayed for 20 minutes because there were two people underneath it with their luggage, protesting to be let on board, NetEase reports.
The angry husband and wife had unfortunately arrived late for their flight, the boarding gate was closed and the boarding bridge was detached from the plane. But the couple didn’t let those small obstacles stop them, rather than cursing and frantically trying to get on the next flight like the rest of us would do, the couple charged headlong into the airline workers, knocking them aside and making it all the way to the tarmac.
Once there, they were told by the cabin crew that they would not be allowed on board the plane. In response, the wife told the ground crew that she would not be leaving unless it was aboard that plane. The couple then stood steadfast underneath the airplane with their suitcases ready. Presumably, waiting for some confused passenger to accidentally deploy the emergency slide.
Eventually, police showed up and the woman became even more hysterical. The standoff finally ended when her husband helped to drag the sobbing woman into the back of a waiting police car. The couple were then placed in administrative detention for 5 days.
According to Shanghai Daily, at first the couple claimed that they were late because they had not been informed about their boarding time. However, both their departure time and their boarding time was found printed on their tickets. The fact that the plane was boarding was also broadcast throughout the airport. Air China has chalked this one down to “personal reasons.”
