In early September, the Hangzhou International Convention Center hosted leaders from around the world attending the G20 summit, but for the last 10 days it has hosted thousands of tourists as the doors of the center have been thrown open to the general public. While walking in the hallowed halls where once world dignitaries discussed whether or not Barack Obama had been stairway snubbed, one small child was unable to contain his excitement.
Recently, photos have been shared on Chinese social media showing a small child squatting down to take a piss right on the red carpet covering the floor of the prestigious convention center, with his father and a helpless security guard looking on.
A security guard surnamed Bao told Sina that he snapped the picture in question. According to Bao, the incident occurred on September 27th at around 11 a.m. He said that as he was exiting the second floor entrance hall, he noticed a father and son standing around as if they were waiting for someone. Then, in the blink of an eye, the kid squatted down and Bao heard the terrible tinkling sound of urine on carpet.
However, the father didn’t seem to notice. “Quick, look at what your kid is doing!” Bao shouted. Finally, the man turned his head to look, but by then the damage had been done.
The security guard seen in the photo, surnamed Han, also spoke with reporters. “The kid needs to hold it, he can’t just pee anywhere,” Han said he told the father. Afterward, the parent apologized profusely for what had happened. Han called in a cleaner and the father and son went on their way.
Officials revealed that this was just one of the many incidents of uncivilized behavior that had occurred since the convention center opened to the public on September 26th. Escaping from the suffocating crowds around West Lake, around 6,000 tourists a day have visited the center. Guards say that some try and relax by taking their shoes off and taking a nap on the grass in the rooftop garden.
Yeah, we probably wouldn’t be able to hold in our excitement either.
