A street cleaner in Lanzhou was beaten up by a dog owner on Wednesday after she tried to prevent the man’s pet from relieving itself on the street.
After attacking the 50-year-old female sanitation worker, the owner of the offending corgi delivered what has became another killer one-liner exposing class divisions in Chinese society: “My dog is worth more than your life!” he reportedly bellowed.
According to staff at a nearby pet store, the attacker was a customer looking to purchase a pregnancy test for his furry friend. However, inspectors found no evidence for this somewhat irrelevant claim, reported Sina News.
After the street cleaner was taken to a nearby hospital for examination, the young man admitted wrongdoing and, before police and other sanitation workers, apologized for his outburst.
Both parties then signed an agreement not to pursue each other legally, after settling on an RMB1,100 payment for medical expenses and RMB500 in lost income.
