Behold! The magic of modern medicine.
Yup, that’s an ear growing out of an arm. The patient, surnamed Ji, lost his right ear in a car accident last year. Thanks to Guo Shuzhong, an expert in reconstructive surgery, he’ll soon have a new one.
According to NetEase, to achieve this, Guo took a bit of the patient’s rib cartilage, shaped it up, and then buried it in his right forearm. Don’t try this at home, kids.
The next thing to do is to get that ear where it needs to be. That process will take three to four months while Guo waits for the ear to grow completely.
Presumably, until then, the patient will be wearing long-sleeved shirts.
